A zrenjanin band, since I guess late sixties until... depends on counting, but let's say 1977 or thereabouts, when they reflowed into a new band, Tetka Ana. Maam Ana Vukotić, whose name they took, deserves a special article, but it better be somewhere else, where her biography and persona will be justly depicted and gain visibility. I mention her here and there.
Well, Omege („omegas“). They took the name unaware that right here in the 'hood, in [buda]Pest, there's a band named Omega. When they learned of it, they were already well known locally, so, too late now.
They played regular gigs, at least three evenings a week, in Dom. Their repertory was whatever they caught, mostly Kridensi (Creedence), Stonsi (Stones), and by the end of the evening they'd sometimes play a bećarac, „Te san lačo trgovcou“ or „Verka kaluđerka“ (local tavern folk songs, of Vojvodina). The usual schedule would have them play anything that could be danced to, then specially two or three slow blocs, which were (same as in the disco) called „who grabs what“, as that was couples dancing.
I didn't know all of them personally, but they remembered me as the house photographer of Dom, specially in the 1972, so we'd say hello to each other later, specially their last singer. There were other contacts too, their (for a while) bass player was one Neša Čurganov, who was (also for a while) a member in DC-99, and likewise Ilija Hot, both friends of our Pop. And I recognized Miša the drummer later when he was renting rowboats on Tisa.
At their fifty year anniversary concert in Zeleno zvono, I remember how Bogica Mijatović (of Radio Novi Sad) said „too bad they were a zrenjanin band; were they at least from Novi, they'd swipe the floor with both Elipse and Siluete. As it were, they weren't heard of.“
