Shots from the negatives Slavka shot and then had me develop and then took only the prints and left the negatives to me. Although in principle 99,9% of photos here come from my laboratory, I consider this a valid reason to spoil the percentage a bit, she has unwittingly taken shots of what wouldn't cross my mind. And even this is, actually, from that same lab, just wasn't my finger on the shutter.
The garden of the hotel „Vojvodina“ (any sitting outside is called a garden). This could be any two taven benchtearers from the then artsy circles. On the surrounding shots I see also actors from the local theatre, even the one with whom Višnja was going, one painter, the drummer from „Omege“... On this picture is Menato, I'd say the most famous zrenjanin actor. Not yet at the time, he was just beatin his path, came to fame some fifteen years later.
The building in the back left is the library, and the larger kiosk which can almost be seen by it should be „Kod konja“ (by the horse), which was mentioned at times, and some still remember it (I asked around in 2024 and yes, I didn't imagine it, it was there), which is a kind of tavern with no more than half dozen tables outside, operated that summer, and perhaps a year or two before and after this. It was popular at the time. The name is... pointless, it's an imitation of the belgrade „by the horse“, when they set up to meet by the monument to knez (prince) Mihajlo and don't mention him but the horse instead.
The square was a big parking lot, because this is when cars multiplied a lot while the space didn't, so give them the square.
Slavka, Brana from IV1, Oli Boj, in gimnazija's back yard, before the renovation (which will happen this summer). As the building was scheduled for the general makeover, it didn't see a brush last few years, nothing was done, it was all left to ruin, only the things which may be dangerous to leave were fixed. All of little football, handball and volleyball etc were played here on the concrete. For gym we had to taller rooms in some back buildings, even older and more dilapidated than the main.
Slavka on the square, I'd make her out from a kilometer with those white shoes. I see five fićas, one tristać, one opel kadett (stubbornly popular, guess under influence of the gastarbajter, even Tejka's father had one), one ford escort.
By the vodotoranj one ami eight, a rare sight. There were many ami sixes around, the eights were still few. The buses on the main street are the old model from the sixties, the round-cornered. On many bus lines they already introduced these new, cornered ones, where the front and back are completely flat. Not aerodynamic at all, but who fucks it, they aren't intended for speed. Except they then put that model on the lines to near villages. I cooked up a story that the production is fully automated, there's a big tunnel with one endless bus coming out of it, and they just chop off the desired length.
And this is someone with a white escort and sportster foglights added (a sign that someone here is jaggering about and wants his car to look different, pretending sport drive style) in front of gimnazija, guess he drove the girl to school... Now who's boasting here, he or she, that is the question.
Not Brana... well, why not, she wasn't of same fame as some great chick, but that doesn't have to mean she wasn't popular.
This semester we were the morning shift, so this is lizzarding at Volta after the class... allegedly waiting for the buses but actually sitting (literally) at the shop windows and killing some half an hour, until someone from the morning shift comes by, untill the passersby are observed... In that intershift, from 13:05 to 14:00 the korzo lived some interlife, to fill the dull time between the evenings. My class didn't meet here, only two of us were from the city, so I sat rather with the guys from IV4, and their shop window was at Proleter (footware, nice 15cm of ledge below the glass, just right to lower [one's] ass), thirtysome meters to the right. The guys on this shot are the current seniors, of course, our girls were going out with older guys.
