Factory. The largest one in the block of other smaller ones - the rubber wheels and rims, the perlite plant, the gravel port, another metal one (where they made our distributor for infloor heating, and where they paid me for a tezga with no money but this desk where I'm sitting at the moment, it's indestructible; Vasilija was their chief accountant at the time) and a thermos factory. The block is between the river, railroad (the other side is lower kolonija, next to ruža) and the old kombinat's industrial zone. Almost all of them were at some point customers, either of DBA, Avai or Brlja and me, except Elmont itself and the gravel depot.
They produced all kinds of things, but came to fame when they built the living containers for -50°C, and sold them in Russia, for Syberia. Just load it on a flatcar and either unload it somewhere and just sleep in it, or keep it on the car and live in it.
And then transition discunted everything, so they first rented out the front building. That's where ms (and then husband) had a department store in the back and restaurant in the front. The store didn't survive, but the restaurant did, in various incarnations, because it had a well equipped kitchen, the leftover from factory mess hall, with quite a capacity. I think at its best times it was producing meals for mess halls of other smaller plants which didn't have proper kitchens. It somehow turned out to be the best place for a daća, being within 2km to both old and new cemetery (the other three cemeteries are too far). Between 2011 and 2019 I was there on a daća or a remembrance seven or eight times.
