Lena took Mrvica out to graze. We did that a few times back home, with Skviki and her little ones, and covered them with an upended crate, so they don't spread around, and also in case some smaller dog sneaks under the fence. We got a perfectly shaved patch, crate sized, of 5mm grass. Had we had the time and the patience, we could have made a chessboard of a lawn.
This time, not so long. Besides, we share this bit of lawn with the downstairs neighbor, some Hindu who... well, vinegar. I'll never get used to it. There's another apartment below him, but its door faces the other side, the building being on a slope and our apartments facing the upside of it.
On 16th Go and Ricardo came. I think by bus, neither one of them drives. At such occasions I'd park in the east 4th street (there's also the west 4th, they counted from the center in both directions), behind Awful Arthur's. The Arthur was a fish restaurant, seafish namely, and it stank awfully, true to its name. There were always cats around its back, parking lot side. Then I realized that there's a McDonalds right across from Zero and that I never saw any cats around it. Confirms my opinion of them.
Just had fun all evening, watched movies on zmajček, I think it was „Big Lebovsky“ and a few episodes of South Park. Lebowsky didn't impress me, it's all just good mucking around, such as we had a lot in our movies in the seventies and eighties. Surprised that it became a cult movie, people know quotes from it. Well, who'd a thunk.
Go has new sneakers, with some bright orange inlines and outlines on the sole. Nina wears the same shirt bought in Trieste back in 1971.
Got my hands on the whole five-part trilogy of Douglas Adams, actually found it on the CD with some hundred SF books from Kentaur and later editions by Zoran Živković, which I bought in mid 1999. Reading all of it to Lena, aloud. Took us weeks, but she loved it. Then switched to Pratchett's Bromeliads - the truckers, fliers and whatever.
The UScrew keeps coming to work. Guess the current shift is held by Bata and V. and should soon be replaced by Pali and Željko. One day it so occurred that V. stayed longer, or we did, so it was just Bata and I leaving, and he asked for a ride to the beginning of the twonyniner, a shopping mall there, needs to do some shopping, and it's just a kilometer from there to the apartments. And it's in my way, my turn off the 29 is three lights later. We chatted along the way, and I remembered the case when a customer had a demo version of TaxiSys. I didn't specifically build demo versions, any app would turn into one if the customer name, city and phone were edited in the defg.prg and it wasn't then generated again, so the checksum wouldn't match. And if it didn't, the GenerAll would simply refuse to write into any table over 1000 records, and would instead issue an alert.prg „it seems you are running a demo version of the app; if you like it, contact Avai“ and the phone number. It did happen once, with exactly TaxiSys, wrote about that already, so I remembered to ask him how's that going, he wrote the companion app, he should know. Excellent, he said, sould five times, half the cab unions of Novi are running on it. Well, all kudos, I said, and went on thinking what kind of scum is Brlja, not that he just never paid me my share beyond that first sale, but didn't even tell me. Okaaaay...
