Was on some irc chat with fellow foxen, including George Tasker, Michele Cox (whom I will meet less than five years later), James, Rick Borup, Jo, Tim Hayes, Edward Pikman (who will disappear from UA at some point in the later naughties, and return around 2012 as a staunch conservative, to the point that I put him on my ignore list), Berix. It was just a general chat, without any specific subject. Reading it now, yes, it was fun.
I think at this time I had an internet account with the post office (later telekom), so at least the phone bill didn't suffer as much as when I connected through sezam. This was the second channel the city had - what we supported in Avai was BeoTel, a subsidiary of BeoBanka, which had the first. Now the city had twice 64Kbits/s, still a very narrow pipe, but then the number of people who had some idea about what internet is was small, and the channel was only slightly overloaded, depending on time of day. For us night birds this was no problem.
Email from Emmy
I've destroyed some megs of data in my time... though I've reconstructed almost everything. My first boss called me "a brave programmer"... these words themselves called me to my senses. Backup first, then take your breakfast, then think of something to do.
"Brave programmer", eh? I don't know whether I like those 2 words hooked together. :)
That first boss was Radoja, of course.
Brlja was in Novi today and was supposed to pick Go up and drive her here, but he emailed that he got stuck there and overstayed the scheduled time, so he supposes she already left. Which she did, lots earlier than scheduled.
On 23rd, someone asks „when you installed IE 5.0, did you have to uninstall 4.0 first, or could you just tread over it?“. Fuckit, does this have to happen every time? Can't m$ ever write a clean install? Then there was an avalanche of messages, starting with a lengthy manual for those who got their styled version from Tucows (yup, two cows), what to adjust, what to delete, what to download and install, because many had got into deeper shit. And then there were calls upon the Trbnjevo management, because they also had their styled version thereof, to clean it up.
