Not turning Skype on until lunch, still pissed off at yesterday's avalanche of bullshit from Firriver. First Jan again asked me to install the latest export query at one of them Belgian clients but without installing a new exe (because they are special, i.e. on a special build) - well, 1) won't work, because the build they have is the last one with the bug for which I'm supposed to deliver a fix; 2) on 23-dec, when I delivered that version of the query, he specifically told me to call them, not email them, because they don't really read emails (fair enough, neither do I), and to just tell them what's new. I got into hands of some cerberi who grilled me for 20-some minutes about how did I ever get access to the production server, which is off limits to developers and bla bla bla - udbaš style. She was listening in then, and says that when they said they'll call me, I said that I'm in Serbia and there's no cheap phone call to here, even with Skype it's 0,11€/minute, just email Firriver and mention my name somewhere, my email filter will catch that it's for me. She says that that's when the real grilling began, when I went from source of information to prime suspect. I wasn't born yesterday, so I did make a note of who and when said we are to go to production server, and left them to get their ducks in order.

So then I had it in black and white that we can visit production server and I got special treatment. Now it's just Jan's say so and I should just go ahead and do it (even if it's impossible, with contradictory requirements, aka double bind). Huh?

It's also a leg, so it doesn't lie flat and cools better

What with the (becoming normal) sleep trouble (went to sleep at 2:30, after reshooting another hundred of old slides from seventies - much better now than the first reshooting I did four years ago, the colors are lively and even some barely usable ones are looking decent), got up at seven, hungry. Slept a bit before and after lunch. By afternoon, after a couple of meetings (first, Nina's web portal meeting, then one about CopyRx with Bruce, then another, portal related but mostly chatting about weather and booze with Geoff), I was still nervous and restless. In the evening, Laura was testing the CopyRx thing, and guess what, she was proposing to abandon two items in it, which took me about a week of work. Because during development I was alone with Bruce, as she can't be involved in something she can't see, and then when it sees it, she has to try it first - which she can when it's practically finished (today we're supposed to get a set date for some certification or whatever). And now she proposes to do a major redesign of the whole thing. Well, (I wrote), go ahead and redesign everything ten minutes before the end, write it from scratch for all I care. I turned Skype off as I didn't want to max out on my adrenalin rush.

Then turned it back on when Nina called - saw Violet and Raja again, felt better.

Batteries for decomp and gugolj just arrived. Finally don't have to move back to desk every ten minutes when I lie down to read. More than half into the first year of Dozois's anthology for 1984. This is a beauty now, I lie and read and when I get up I still have almost eight hours until the next charging.

The next day we went to some party at Arpi's, they were all there - Dragan and Silvija and Jagoda and Boba and Milena, and Višnja and that clod of hers with a chick (seeing the same one for the second time, this one may even remain... how does such a loghead catch such good chicks, is unclear to me). I see there's drink and pogačice on the table, I guess I ran out of juice in the batteries after that, or didn't want to bother with the lousy light - whichever, I don't know what happened later. Or why were we there. If this was not the time when Višnja invented that they are christian orthodox (by rules of the said religion she should have switched to husband's religion, which she failed to do, twice), and on top of that invented a slava for the family.

Or was that last year?
