As previously set up through letters, we board a train to go to Zagreb to spend the weekend with Lajna and whoever else we meet there. My parents knew about this, as they already knew Lajna's mom from Borik, hers didn't - actually, never found out either. We arranged this by pretending to stay in Novi over the weekend, because the next week would be shorter. The 29th would fall on a friday, which meant that by thursday noon any lectures would be over and we'd have a long weekend. With 30th falling on a saturday, we'd probably have the monday off as well. So we were allegedly saving one trip... by making a mach larger trip instead.
The train took off from Novi pretty much on time. We had a compartment to ourselves, except for the first few hours, when we shared it with a girl about our age, a typical Novisadist better-off blonde, nothing to worry about, just classy and decent. The only text I remember from her was "I better confuse the curtain, eh?" - the usual mix of common jokes becoming part of the language. The joke has it as "confuse the curtain, I got pulled down - the actor said".
The trip was quite uneventful. Some faked confusion over what "zahod" means - I said it's the same as "zavod" (institute), but as we came closer and saw better, it became obvious that some railway station's toilet can't be it.
The first album of Bijelo dugme was published tree days ago. We didn't take them seriously yet, they weren't a subject in any conversation at all.
