Škrba published an article on suština, about the Omega band and their mini-symphony „Időrabló“, which he literally translated as „thief of time“. Which is both correct and wrong...

Because, as my dear said, it does mean that, but the word is used to denote a do-nothing, time-waster. I passed that to him, and he wrote, some time later, at some celebratory occasion, was it 2000 articles or tenth anniversary of the site, when he also published the meaning of „essence of solitaire“: waste of time! So the song was univocally (by one vote, his) adopted as the anthem of the site.

Geoff quit the job, guess went to heal. He kept working for Firriver, maybe tenth of his hours, so you get him when you catch him. He often called from impossible places - various waiting lobbies, trains, cafes, wherever he sits and gets a good wireless [connection].

At SFBC, Kimberley tests the latest edition of SHET... On a similar task, Tilly Kelemans from Belgium has something about the Belrap. Luckily, she wrote it in dutch, so I could pretend I understood nothing and thus didn't have to reply, that's Jan's job. A warning from SFBC also came, namely from their police (yup, an university clinic has its own cops)(I translated this into serbian as verbatim as I could, not to spoil the beauty of the official language):

CRIME ALERT

February 04, 2017

Indecent Exposure at Medical Sciences Building

On February 04, 2017 at approximately 2030 hours, A SFBC employee reported an indecent exposure on the first floor lobby of 157 Olympus Blvd, near the elevators. The male suspect pulled down his pants, exposing his genitals to the victim employee. The suspect grabbed his genitals and made several derogatory remarks directed at the victim employee. The suspect left the building and was last seen walking westbound on Olympus Blvd. Security and Police responded but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male adult, approximately 40-50 years old with short disheveled curly hair and skinny to medium build. He was last seen wearing a red jacket, reddish pants and a hat. (and five more paragraphs, with advice how to call the cops, what to do in various situations etc)

(hats my ass, must have been a baseball cap; blvd because they pronounce the final d, which the Frenches never do; exhibitionism is now a crime, tell that to galleries; the guy is obviously remarkable, as stated in 'made remarks')

On oldwave, I'm ruminating over my problems, what to play the music with:

The beef flew away (the dead beef app, the name is actually a number written in hex), and foobar is a collateral victim of deliverance from them Windowses. Since august I switched to ubuntu, there's no foobar on it. My music is in an ewesby drawer, and the caged windows has only a theoretical access to ewesby stuff. For practical access I'd have to reconfig some things somewhere, to list the devices it is permitted to see... and then what's the point when I didn't allow it to make sounds :).

So I'm still looking for a decent pludger. So far I'm keeping these two, until I find some. Now I try another one every pair of months, so sooner or later.

Found [it]! QMMS. Roughly everything that was good in winamp and foobar, even looks similar, i.e. like winamp as of dozen years ago, and has, for now, everything that foobar had. That is, in these fifteen minutes I haven't found anything missing. Okay, missing, can't copy from the Audacious its playlist via stevka (v. house dictionary), have to do what I don't like to do in english because it sounds stupid, drag'n'drop. But it works.

The last missing thing is how to add from one [play]list to another.

(later:)

What qmms didn't know how, now it does, when I went through settings and activated the add-ons, they weren't turned on but were installed. End of search, therefore.

The dispute then moved to Kleks convincing Škrba that linux is not what he remembers from fifteen years ago, and there are hundred things that his dear m$ does wrongly, wrongly on purpose or for lack of fucks to give and won't ever fix them. I didn't join the dance, I'm simply living easy since I don't have to suffer the shit anymore. I keep it caged, feed it just enough to keep it from croaking or biting, that much is enough.

I contributed my list, „windowses against ubuntu“, where I listed all the things that are m$'s bullshit and done right in linux (when installed it always erases one disk, and not necessarily the one given, and removes all other OSes from the boot sector, which linux leaves alone; all apps must be reinstalled and lose settings, while linux keeps settings even if reinstalled after being absent from the sistem through ten versions; user's profile must be on c:\users\name while linux's /home/name can be on any partition; almost nothing is translated into serbian while in linux almost everything is; the UAC dialog locks the whole machine and appears a hundred times, while in linux it locks only the current process while everything else is still accessible, and also remembers the extra login for a while so if it's needed for another thing run in the same process, it still holds).
