špajiz

The shop with all the seeds, herbs, nuts and sweets one can imagine. It's tiny, cramped, can't fit more than three customers at once, and they have practically everyhing... except when they don't. Last case, in 2023. they didn't have any lovage leaves, but then nobody had them.

I don't go there too often, but then when I do, I come out with a full tote.

I'm never sure what's its actual name at different times. They were „Bio špajz“ (pantry), then just „Špajz“, but then that's what it says above the door. On their bags the lettering changes, sometimes it's špajz, sometimes spajz, and even špajiz. Completely clueless of the origins of that extra i, but then kept spotting it in various other places. So paradajz (tomato) became paradajiz, oružje (weapon) oružije, and perjani jastuk (down cushion) perijarni (!) jastuk. Probably depends on the illiteracy of the printer or artist.
