Mostly sitting on this endless meeting with the inner staff. Looking at them, from left: Nick, David, the chief of staff, Randy Zahn, Jiang, Jan's hand.

Email from Mikica, about the roof for our terrace. And btw dad's PC is kaputt, but this guy's brother has a shop and he'll see what he can do. He also sent the blueprint for the construction of the roof.

At some point he borrowed 1000€ from dad, which he never returned; I guess dad never saw him again. His dad did the cutting and welding (good work, actually) and the sheet metal on top and the gutter were done by Šuca Sejin's firm (firm seems to be ok but he never connected the top to the wall so any rain hitting that wall still pours down on the terrace). I'll find out much later that the whole exercise cost 5000$, which is ridiculously high.

And I saw dad's new PC later - it had a Pentium IV processor (i.e. technology dated 2000; perhaps it was a Pentium-M, 2002) with just bare 96M of memory. At least the disk was not a problem, I left one last time, of about 40 or 60G.

Go reports that EA published Nascar 08, so she has one shipped title under her belt.

Meanwhile, in SF, got an email from home, "I told you you should buy a jacket". Also, attempts to catch the squirrel into that have-a-heart brand trap failed so far. She eats the bait but fails to trigger the latch. Perhaps if she gets fat. At least now eats less tomato.

I started making cigarette breaks, now that I know the building and considering that I don't need to go through any security on the way in. Have to go all the way out on the street and catch a less windy nook. During one of these smoke breaks I carried the Fujica with me and shot a nice series, including this one, and a few of the artfully designed hallway and a garden.

The gray joint on the corner has Pete's deli, where we usually eat breakfast when we go to SFBC.

I was actually surprised to see a functional trolleybus. They also still have the tram rails in places. So Roger Rabbit wasn't here, it was LA.

Speaking of smoke breaks... in the evening we went to dine in a better restaurant, no idea where. Wine was better, grub excellent, crowd aplenty, everything right except no smoking. I went out for smoke break twice - less would be ridiculous, more would overdo it for one dinner. Knowing how Americans are antisocial smokers until ice is broken, I engaged a fellow lady smoker in small chat, my regular shtick, how smoking lengthens one's life (nonsmokers are shot right away), how nonsmokers die healthier, how smoking shortens cigarettes etc. She was amused for the duration of one cigarette. But when I returned to the table I got a few winks and nudges from these two... as in „who'd a thunk the old guy still has it“.
