Few days ago I've had my dick full of the Vista or whatever I had on the nezavisni. I think I overwrote it with HR (XP...), because the Vista was messing it seriously, nobody liked it. And then this one began to blunder, network wise. It'd stay for a while at 192.168.0.n, where en was some small number, and then would lose the network out of the blue. I look at its settings, and now the ipy number begins with 254... Why, m$, why did you have to fix this? Ah, yes, you fix only the things that have always worked, those that didn't you don't touch...
So I decided that I had enough, and installed some Ubuntu on it. Starts, goes.
(note I wrote on nezavisni, in Serbian, and as usual, have sprinkled it with traps for the interpreter, which I'll avoid by making the English sound a little strange)
Typical for the Western common-legal way of thinking is even that that (in Fox, but seems so elsewhere in the Pendžers*) the horizontal menus have "pads" (hygienic?), while the vertical ones have "bars" (chocolate, soap?). Although it's completely the same logically, it behaves the same, all all but the layout (vertical or horizontal, that is the sole question), no, this single bit of information is the reason to have separate cases and merit separate syntax etc etc.
It is possible that in the essence of that legal system is the root of the Western not being used to abstract and/or axiomatic thinking. Nothing follows from the general, nothing is deductive in itself, everything is to be introduced inductively, based on a sufficient number of similar cases. What with prescribing of what is similar and what is not.
For example, there is no such thing as a law applying to legal persons, period, or to physical persons, or to minors and we're done. Practically every time a set of those to whom it will apply, and to whom it will not, is defined, and lists of exceptions are, ahem, no exception.
Another raid on the friendly networks is underway, this time the RIAA closes eMule's servers. Today I heard, at at least three occasions, various comments, lengthy ones at that, along the line of how smart is it to cut that branch, because it's also one on which they sit too. As one said, „in twenty years the historians will be astonished at the business which so insanely came down upon its own customers“.
