The fix-up exam, which existed (and probably still does, in some shape) in elementary and high schools. With the grades going from 1 to 5, 2 or higher is satisfactory-good-very good-excellent - 1 is unsatisfactory. Those with one or two aces at the end of the year get this second (and third) chance to fix up their grades and pass to the next year. Those with three or more repeat the year, just as those who don't pass this fix up exam.
There were two chances for this exam - end of june and end of august. My rule for those was "whever is the first to pass, goes to buy me a burek". Because it was a whole day of work for us who organized those.
