We watched the funeral at Đuđa's, she had a color TV. Impressive, well designed, well directed, pretty much what we expected of ourselves as a country. Just the count and the rank of foreign dignitaries who came was unbelievable.

Only Jimmy Carter sent his mother - and a joke circulated, within days, that he heard Brežnjev promising to fuck her, so he just wanted to see what the guy can do.

It would take another six or seven days until they started playing anything but classical music on public media (and private there were none, though Studio B was independent, worker owned, since 1972), starting with instrumental jazz. It was about june when they resumed playing rock. Some bands' careers, however, were thoroughly shot. Those who borrowed money to pay for the recording studio were now months without gigs, the record publishing was paused and everybody was getting ready to fire their next best hits in the summer. So the local bands wouldn't get a chance until september, maybe. Many didn't survive this, and have split, found jobs.
