Waiting for The Fat Guy to pay my author's fee, guess there was an article, so to extend the sezam subscription...
Wrote a bcd2num() function, to deal with those pesky Comp-3 fields in Cobol. No idea now why did I need that. Ah, yes, for the factory of cattle fodder, to pull out the data they got from the app written by Big Ćale, i.e. his erc. Among the professions invented as jokes (night locksmith, machine cowboy, floor transportation automatician - „just press the button and the sack automatically falls right on your shoulder“), I also invented a „cattle fodder taster“, which I, of course, told the girls there. One responded that it's the job of their CEO, he does that. Of course, he picks only the young calf add-on food, because it's more than 90% powdered milk. Whenever a customer doubts the composition thereof, he just picks a spoonful with his fingers and eats it.
On UA, complained about "on several newer machines (233's and 300's with AGP cards) - everything runs smoothly, but when my FPD (fox for Dos) app exits, the task doesn't exit gracefully. It leaves the desktop painted in one color (color seems to be randomly picked among the brighter ones from the palette of 16 or 256 default colors), no mouse, no desktop. The machine is still working - in case it's a (peer-to-peer) server, the workstations happily run apps off its disks.
It happens only on some machines (even when there are three of them purchased together) and never on some other. We've tried using the SVGA driver, using protected mode for DOS memory for these tasks, no good."
Outside, everybody was, more or less, wondering whether we'll really be bombed or is it just the inflammatory rhetoric of Sloba and that Albright hag.
