klinceza

(Translation, Yugoslavia)

Literally, "klincess" - the common word for a kid here is "klinac" - little spike. Rhymes with princ (prince), though not as well as when the female "klinka" is transformed, so we get "klinci i klinceze" - spikelets and spikelesses.

In genitive etc it's klinca-klincu-klincem and princa-princu-princem. In plural they diverge - klinci vs prinčevi, so this is a quite poet-style play on morphology, the inventor was playful with words. I think the inventor of the word was Ljubivoje Ršumović, the great writer of children's poetry.

The 'klinka' variant is used when the emphasis on princess-like is not needed, means just a female kid.
