Time has come to get a new board into zmajček. Went to Toza and Nena, their guy (another new one, they don't stick around) neatly replaced it. I know I once brought them a kilo of rakija, don't know if it was this time.
They didn't mount that beastly cooler I had since five years ago, allegedly its fan was dying. Well Athlon's factory one will do, it's a bit loud but not horribly so.
Horrible it was, I somehow tolerated it for a year. True, I could have taken any standard 80mm fan to replace the one on the old cooler, but no, the replacement will be much better, with two 120mm fans.
I booted into Ubuntu a few times, from a fleška (thumb drive), just to check the order of disks and make sure everything worked. And to play a few spider solitaires when I'm at it. Not that I don't have it regularly, but it's never on the desktop, it's inside the virtual machine's window, which I never put full screen, as every now and then I need something behind it.
At Firriver another mess with the start program, because it's undergoing another attempt to switch databases without leaving, which is needed for one or two customers. They have multiple clinics connected in such a way that the patients are separate but mutually searchable; the staff may rotate and still keep their patients from another branch, which is in their own database and building. The trouble is this partial restart of the app, whereby it needs to know where it initially connected, and where to connect now, and if connecting back to the first, that it's going home. It got complicated at several levels, partly because Jan wrote the start the way he did. Not the main culprit, but didn't make things any easier either.
In the afternoon all four of them (Ender, Nina, Raja, Violet) went to visit Zana.
On sixteenth the majstor for Končars came to see the water heater. Couldn't do much, adjusted the pressostat once more to be even more sensitive, but that didn't help much - the next summer we still didn't have hot water during the day and on weekends not before 23 (usually the pressure sufficed around 21:00).
On seventeenth Go reported that they moved. Previously they lived in a part of the house that some Stanley's pal rented to them, but now his own shit hit the fan. His pretty hungarian girlfriend ditched him, he was switching jobs, going solo, and now needed to rent (or sell?) the whole house to bridge the transition. So Stanley talked some lady into renting a house they liked, from here, over the phone. He's a highfalutin sweet talker when he applies himself to it, and gets deals made against all odds.
The kids will call it „the yellow house“.
On nineteenth we saw them to Surčin. Waited there for hefty two hours, because we somehow managed an early start, and got lucky driving through nearly empty Belgrade. There's a playground for kids, where the two had lots of fun, but after a while they got bored with it. While Raja was content to sit, perhaps play on his tablet, Violet developed her long-term trait of just walking away. And she's quick and strong, so it's hard to chase her. I tried my best without actually running, steady long step walk works better for me, but for her third foray I was nearly having enough of that. Ender, however, didn't move at all. Well, that passed too, and we're alone again.
