On 24th I have a picture of the bottom side of our tiny tankless water heater, which I took so I could read its data to Mića, so he could tell me what could be wrong with it. He said it won't do any good even to fix it, these tankless thingies require about 18KW power to heat the water properly at some decent rate, and this is 12KW. It makes it up by lowering the throughput, the pipes connecting the heating cells are only quarter inch, which with the water we have is congestion waiting to happen. It could be cleaned by some acids or ultrasound, but both processes have their limitations and neither leaves smooth surfaces as they originally were, so new coating would start gathering even faster than the first time. It's already narrow enough to have lowered its throughput to the point where it is below the pressostat's treshhold* and doesn't trigger it to turn the heaters on. Which is why we didn't have hot water all day last two summers, had to wait almost until midnight for the pressure to suffice (or until monday, when it fell for the weekend). So this is no good, time to think of a replacement.
On 26th Zdravko with his kum came to replace the inserts in all three taps. They somehow opened the one on the kitchen sink, found which type it was and I went off to buy three of those while they open the other two. Well, screwup was in the three being with different inserts, even though they are all same size and make. For one they had to file and grind and shorten and whatnot, so they pulled it out somehow, but still for the third one I had to get in the car and go buy a different one. It took them a while but they got it done. The net result was that within two months all three were squealing and the movement is staggered worse than before - which was the reason for replacement - but at least now it's all new, clean and not dripping. Well it wasn't dripping before either, just the throughput was reduced, our water is rich in minerals, specially iron, and coats anything.
In the evening at Silvija's, her birthday. Boba and Milena were there, and Višnja with her clod of a son with his latest chick (how can such a simpleton regularly catch cool chicks and then be unable to hold them for more than a year - even when they've already lived together for months... like the one time he moved into the old house, ran up a couple of hundred euros worth of electricity bill, left a pigsty of a mess and never even thought to pay, and his mom held his side - the debt was never cleared). Arpi was also there, in obviously bad mood. Didn't make too many photos, the light there is somehow too diffused.
Today spent all day on Lab, the long fix at some UK clinic, where there was a mismatch between the partners in some cases. Took me three phone calls (skype-to-phone, costs me about 0,02€ a minute, didn't even bother to ask for reimboursement from Firriver) in the morning just to check for connection and see what's up, then most of the day to write the fix and four more phone calls to their guy in the afternoon, someone called Travis Wala, to get the fix distributed to their various servers.
The cause of the whole snafu was that in earlier versions of the Lab app the cycles were not bound to patients but to couples, even though, as an app for tracking genetic material in the lab, it may need to deal with solo patients (storing just volunteer sperm or eggs) or, on the other end, people who are not patients nor members of a couple owning the cycle but third persons - donors, gestational carriers. Nevertheless, it wouldn't accept anything if I didn't send a couple.
To make the whole thing work from LI side, I went into our relations table and pulled out the partner record, or lacking that... ouch, now there were cases when there was no partner at all, yet the ladies wanted to get pregnant. The guys from Lab now allowed the partner to be absent, i.e. partner's code could be null, but forgot to tell me for a couple of years (and also many of their customers stayed on older version for years), so... it happened several times that my code would find a semen donor because it was the first available male on the list of relations, and send that as a partner.
Now I've refined the code to look for the partner by order of priority, and wrote the fix, which would first update those, where this was wrong, as having no partner (to unbind the wrong partnership), then add the real partner and write it into the couple record. Tad complicated, but what can we do, we didn't design their database...
In the evening, long chat with both american branches of the family, mostly watching the girls (Violet and Anita) being cute. Nina's belly is progressive.
