A con artist of the highest rank. He got into Zero while I was waiting for the visa to go through and for the bombing to stop. He was probably recommended by someone close to Microsoft, and was instrumental in pushing out the Fox version of Hossy and ushering the VB/ASP version. His project was "The Borg Engine", which he described as a "highly denormalized database, with long keys which would contain so much information that you wouldn't be needing much else". These were basically rip fields, so they'd give you a full hierarchy - except that in many cases there was no strict hierarchy, or there were multiple (a single room belonged to a floor, building, campus, but then it also belonged to a department, college, or to a program etc etc). The Borg engine was a total flop.
When he saw it won't fly, he got himself a 120K$ job at USA Today, to be the 2nd line of defense troubleshooter for their web servers.
His car was huge and black, could probably melt cheese in it in the summer. He'd start it with a remote, and by the time he came to it, the AC would already have cooled it off.
Quote: "oooh, there are some parts of DC where I don't go, because I'm the wrong kind of black". Also: "then we vest our options and we all go fishin'".
