Found that on my to-do-list in Jira there’s now a S-710 assigned to me, to “Enable translation buttons for FF-Localisation VM”. Found much later that I actually got a new password to this VM – which is in the Firr domain, to which I otherwise still don’t have access. Now I do, Ibraheem (who also created the case) gave me new credentials because he didn’t know my old ones (which probably never existed, I didn’t know them either). Funny, though, the migration to the new domain is under way for quite a while, and we already had a case last week (for portal) that I couldn’t touch because the repro for it was only on the new server and I couldn’t get there.
Now the problem is who is this Ibraheem guy? He’s not staff. He was never introduced as a member of the team. The closest I heard is that some of the server maintenance and setup is outsourced to him, via Geoff perhaps. He might be Geoff’s apprentice, for all I know. And now he’s creating an SDD that I’m supposed to complete, and there’s just a few things that got wrong there:
• he didn’t know that a translator.txt file should exist, until I pointed him to the article documenting how that works
• I did send the link to that same article to translation chat on skype, 22-jun-2018, but Ralph didn’t pass it to Ibraheem, hasn’t added Ibraheem to the chat, and actually Ibraheem is not on skype (though it did find one, but without surname; says we have 7 contacts in common but refuses to list them)
• the end users have insufficient rights in the %temp% folder so launcher.exe can’t copy executables there, so the only way to launch Ids is via the ids.exe itself, which we always discouraged
• the databases were indeed created with default latin1_ci_as collation sequence, which is useless and can’t be changed post festum (or if it can, it doesn’t cascade through all the tables and character fields, which is crucial)
Made the bill without the bartender. They ask me to do it, didn't ask me what I need for it, the accountant knows it all better.

Afternoon, quick run to Klincaid, picked more apples and grapes.
