The stuffy humid day after a few rains, no wind, and we were trying out the still in Klincaid, now that it's built in and we don't have to take it out every year and worry whether the hull will hold. It got real rusty, but now almost all the iron parts are gone (except the fireplace door).
The initial setup was pretty much as easy as it ever was, even easier, considering that we had concrete posts for tabarka (the 200 liter condenser). We got 13 liters of 50% strong cherry (almost all sour cherry, some sweet cherry but not as much as last year). Not too bad for starters. Another batch, about three quarters of early pear and quarter of sour cherry is fermenting. Probably to distill some next weekend.
Nina seems to cope fine with the situation. Sanda and Linda aren't demanding and are actually lots of fun, talking to each other in their language of gurgles and goos, and Raja and Violet seem to be learning to mind their own business, well, most of the time. They still ask about something (even things they could get themselves) rather often, but the periods between are gradually getting longer.
Her sister-in-law should be arriving soon, when they catch a freebie navy airplane.
There was a very long conference at Firriver today. The skype recorder app (from some russian guy) made a huge mp3 file of it. As I've discovered in august 2021, when I finally got the rest of the recordings from nanovo to zmajček, several times it failed to recognize end of meeting and kept on recording, own microphone only, for a few hours longer. This time the meeting lasted only a few minutes, but then later I heard how we chatted with Go on zmajček and most of the rest is just silence. The weird part is that it actually made two recordings with practically identical filenames (just conference 7 and conference 10, but same timestamp) and yet the filenames on both files are 30. june 11:32:37 on both files. Weird stuff going on...
