Of course, burek for breakfast, and our liquid yogurt, which they tried but couldn't get their minds around the concept, so I drank the rest a few days later.
Went with the guys to Klincaid for some activity highly favored in Firriver - cherrypicking and low hanging fruit (which Jan later didn't quite get, until I mentioned real fruit). Kees loved the last of the sweet cherries, and helped some with the lower sour ones; Nick got the tall ladder and a whole tree to himself, and then squished both half-buckets into the barrel. Added the sugar to the batch and went back.
For lunch we had something she made, but Kees proved to be a bit picky about it - something he just thought he'd like but actually didn't. He later confessed he doesn't like it about himself, that he's so picky. It's a start. He's so obviously young and still building a persona.
In the afternoon we went to the nearby wildlife preserve (where we went with Burt four years ago); too late to catch a boat, and didn't go far, perhaps 200m, Kees being a bit not suited for walking, though still not a member of club 100. Went to the restaurant on the main road, which is all touristy and ethno and stuff, where they also have some little zoo and where the bear is gone, having killed the woman who fed it a couple of years ago. Then went to kaštel for a stroll and icecream - and Kees had some chance of taking pictures of the ruins of the lookout tower. Which is actually in quite a good shape, it's just that the lower end of the staircase fell.
In the evening we walked to Springfield, which I'm not visiting anymore, because a couple of weeks ago I found an english-only menu on the table: if my language is not good enough for you, neither is my money and good luck with all those foreign tourists. Except this time I brought them with me, so. Standard pizza and dark beer (Steiger, as I see on the photos - a bit sweet but not bad). Kees complained about having an egg in the middle of his pizza, saying he doesn't remember it being listed (and we didn't remember it either way), so he excised it.
Spent the rest of the evening drinking.
