majstor Mile came to report that he's finished. The arches look really well (we went there this sunday, after briefly visiting Lalinski). The sum total for the second phase was 2300€ (plus 1500€ for the first phase)... with the cost of materials, close to 6000€, which was the initial cost of the whole place. But now it looks just great on the outside, and a lot better on the inside. And we're safe from anything falling down or off for a number of years.
The picture is of four days ago, when there were still a few rows of brick missing on top.
The bavalit we put on the façade is blasting white (and if lit, burns through the CCD on the new camera, or at least the software I'm using doesn't cope too well with it). I know it will get dusty and a bit gray in 20 years, but by that time it won't be my worry.
Dad got me greatly annoyed. Buying him a new AC (they have the new ones which can pump heat even when it's -20 outside) is all of a sudden a high priority, and I just said no, not today, people are waiting for me (Suez is at a customer's and the database switching still doesn't work)(it worked three years ago, but then we changed several things in the startup process and now it doesn't).
News in the evening: Nina reports that Ender has an atrial fibrillation or some other damage on his heart, and the report doesn't look too good, the heart is functioning at quarter power. Then later the doctor called with a change of opinion, the heart is OK but it's misfiring in the antechambers, the suck step begins before the pump out is finished, they are proposing a catheter surgery to remove whatever obstacle there is (and they did find something on the ultrasound), to the tune of around 16K$ but may easily go to 64K$. We immediately said that we can forward the cash somehow but wouldn't it be better to do that here? Oma had a similar surgery five years ago and it cost only about 500$ (of which she had to pay only 50$).
Then Fayes said "go to Serbia and stay there until you're OK". So they'll come soon.
