Gary is trying to export a dbf into a textfile so he can work with it... which was the start of the utility which I developed later, whereby he could export the whole table into text, then import it back. It was a part of the same app that I'm now using to write this, i.e. zod.
Email to my folks didn't pass the first time, probably too long with the picture, so I resent it in two parts. The picture is of her glueing the wall tiles in the bathroom, the part where the mirror will be [not this picture, this is obviously the bathtub]. News from the email, both sides: Lena has a new chair, the one we got back in 1999 is finally retired. Comment on the building where Go now lives - looks like some villa from XIX century. Sure, except that's only the façade that's done right; other walls are raw brick, no stucco, and the rest doesn't even get a regular spit and polish. Mom had some health trouble again, couldn't sleep properly, slept sitting on the couch alternating with sitting by the monitor. We actually chatted over Trillian for a bit.

Me too, even less. I only take those "man, if you can fix this piece of code with which we were tearing hairs out, you got a beer". The last two Guinness cans I got that way still serve as ashtrays in my car.
Suffering in silence with a Linux, Fedora works (except the fucked HP skenjdžet** 2300c, which won't budge). I took down some RPM where 2300c is in some jennysys driver (guess depends on chea pseto [pseto=dog, mongrel]), but it put it into /usr/local while xsane reads it from /etc/sane.d, so I still have to find where it reads it from... but Bili will dig him out [movie quote from „Marathon family“].
Were this the first time to have a scanner in my hands and let it go as a given, but with HP it explicitly annoys me that the scanning applet got done as a combination of a 45K dll plus a webpage with javascript - which isn't even capable of keeping its setting, rereads the defaults eah time, takes a hundred years, can't install unless autoplay on seede is on, reports a bunch of IE errors in the script (and still keeps working) and all in all I remember that HP had a fifteen times better scanning software eleven years ago. Which is why I intend to invest effort and make this work...

I belatedly remembered which machine was that... the dormant zmajček. My current machine was in the other box, which Ricardo laid on me, and then I remembered that the other one is sitting there, forlorn and unused. Now after six years that [mother]board with the wee Celeron was feeble and flimsy, but still capable of running a good linux, and I did so. And it ain't bad as an exercise, for the case if I manage to, some day, wade out of them Windowses.
The ergonomy of the operation was a tad screwy, because I didn't have room for it on my desk, so I'd rather sit on the bed, for which we never put together the frame, just laid the mattress on its box, so it was like sitting on a footstool. But for the time I had available, it wasn't too hard to endure.
Nope, wrong as well, it seems I installed Fedora on another partition of the current machine, and booted into one or the other as needed... because a couple of weeks later, when I tried to extract the music from the movie „Bugs in the head“ (v. 18-XI-1970.), I mentioned how the Audacity is hi..cing up? Hickupping? ... under windowses, I'll have to try it again when I boot into linux. The sitting on bed with keyboard on [my] knees was a year later.
